Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting with a delegation of the Asian Development Bank, headed by ADB’s chief treasurer, Mr. Pierre Van Petegham was held at the Ministry of Finance.

At the beginning of the meeting, Pierre Van Petegham was informed about the current macroeconomic situation in Uzbekistan, the prospects for the development of the country’s economy, as well as about the potential support of ADB in accordance with the requirements of the increased demand for financing in local currency by private sector companies.

In turn, the First Deputy Minister of Finance noted that ADB is one of the largest partners of Uzbekistan in the implementation of the most important development programs and large-scale infrastructure and socially significant projects in strategic sectors of the economy and many sectors of society.

During the period of bilateral cooperation, ADB supported the implementation of 63 projects with financing in the amount of 7.44 billion US dollars, including 7.21 billion US dollars for financing 60 projects in the public sector and 230 million US dollars for financing 3 projects in the private sector.

At the end of the meeting, a substantive exchange of views took place on the topic of government economic reforms, including the development of financial markets, reforming, and the privatization of state enterprises and state-owned commercial banks.
