Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, based in Rome, Abat Faizullaev, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. This was reported by Dunyo news agency.
During the ceremony of presenting credentials, Nikos Christodoulides warmly welcomed the diplomat, wished him success in carrying out his mission, and expressed hope for a significant contribution to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations.
The President of Cyprus emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with Uzbekistan, noting that the Republic of Cyprus attaches great importance to these relations, including within the framework of the European Union.
Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Cyprus were established on 30 May 1997.
Abat Faizullaev became the first ambassador of Uzbekistan accredited to the Republic of Cyprus. In October 2023, he was appointed Uzbekistan's ambassador to Italy.
