Uzbekistan accepts as an associate member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By the decision of the International Electrotechnical Commission from 29 March 2022, the Republic of Uzbekistan was admitted to the IEC as an associate member from 1 January 2023.

The status of associate membership will allow Uzbekistan to use the current international standards in the field of electrical engineering and energy, available in the international organization IEC.

The application of IEC standards, the widespread introduction of energy-saving technologies and renewable energy sources, deep processing of local raw materials will serve as the production of import-substituting, competitive in export markets, modern electrical and electrical products with high added value.

Along with this, participation in the development of energy and electrical standards in the IEC technical committees gives Uzbekistan the opportunity to train, retrain and improve the skills of specialists in these areas in accordance with international requirements.

The main goal of the IEC is the development and publication of standards in the field of energy and electrical engineering, the elimination of technical barriers to trade by harmonizing the standards of the participating countries, the creation of a mechanism for the mutual recognition of conformity assessment systems, the achievement of uniform approaches in metrology, laboratory testing and standardization, the improvement of the work of technical committees, training of highly qualified specialists.

IEC was established in 1906 with headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland) with official languages - English, French and Russian. The number of member countries is 176, including 62 full members, 26 associate members and 88 affiliate members.
