During the meeting, leading export-credit agents (ECA) and international organizations made presentations, including trends in insurance of export loans, acting of ECA in global financial crisis conditions (introduction of new insurance products, toughening underwriting, abolishment of existing loan limits), reviewing claims at existence of bank guarantees and disputes among insurers, banks-beneficiaries and guarantors.
Representatives of leading ECA and international organizations discussed results of activity of Bern Union member and Prague Club for 2009 in light of impact of global financial crisis to ECA activities. It was noted that majority of ECA introduced new insurance products, toughened underwriting, abolished existing loan limits in global financial crisis.
ECA representatives are expecting growth in export credit insurance market in 2010. The participants considered issues of changing existing business and sales of credit insurance after crisis. They also considered re-insurance pool, participants of which can be Prague Club member and external re-insurance companies. In the first phase, it was offered to exchange information on re-insurance practices among Prague Club members.
Uzbekinvest said that its participation at the event will allow to use unified approaches to underwriting, adopted in international practice, loss evaluation, loss settlement in insurance of export loans and investments.
During the visit, Uzbekinvest representatives also held negotiations with officials of Beleksimgarant, KREDEX (Estonia) and other ECAs on cooperation and exchange of experience in short-term insurance.
