Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekenergotamir JSC plays a significant role in the country’s energy sector. The company is engaged in major projects to prepare thermal power plants and heat supply centers for the winter season, ensure the stable operation of energy facilities, and introduce the production of import-substituting products locally.
In the early stages of the country’s development, modernization of the electricity sector and the implementation of new investment projects were primarily carried out by foreign companies. Due to efforts to liberalize the industry and introduce free market mechanisms, today, Uzbekenergotamir JSC operates alongside local competitive investor companies within the system.
The company has formed a group of highly qualified local technical specialists by involving chief engineers from globally recognized energy companies, organizing practical training, and running experience exchange courses. As a result, about 2,500 technical specialists now contribute to the stable operation of power plants.
As part of preparations for the current autumn-winter season, Uzbekenergotamir JSC is conducting phased capital, medium, and current repairs on 53 energy units of thermal power plants.
Significant projects in this direction are being implemented at the Tashkent and Navoi thermal power plants, the largest power stations in the country’s energy system. Alongside modern energy units, these plants have completed the modernization of traditional energy blocks, their digitization, and reduced fuel consumption during production.
The capital repair of the energy block No. 9 of the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant has been completed. The repair work included maintenance of the boiler unit of the energy block, high- and low-pressure turbine rotor blades, the generator, and transformers.
About 200 qualified specialists from Uzbekenergotamir JSC were involved to ensure the high quality and timely execution of these works. As a result of the effective organization of the repair campaign, the production capacity of this energy block was increased from 140 MW to 155 MW.
Digitizing the system has reduced fuel consumption, contributing to lower production costs. This will save 458.6 thousand cubic meters of natural gas annually. The volume of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere will be reduced by 108.4 tons.
The capital repair of energy block No. 3 at the Navoi Thermal Power Plant has also been completed. During the repair, technical measures were implemented on the boiler units and turbines. These works involved 250 employees of Uzbekenergotamir JSC and 50 plant workers. As a result of the repairs, the technical and economic performance of the installations improved, and the reliability of their operation increased.
Specifically, following the repair of the 3rd energy block with an installed capacity of 150 MW, 5 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved by the end of the year.
During an open dialogue with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 20 August, priority tasks were identified for expanding the participation of local enterprises in the operation and repair of high-tech equipment at energy industry enterprises. To ensure the fulfillment of these tasks, Uzbekenergotamir JSC is also actively involved in the modernization, repair, and operation of thermal power plants, which are the main generating capacities of the energy sector.
