Uzbekcharmpoyabzali uses US$16.7 million of foreign investments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekcharmpoyabzali (Uzbek Leather Footwear) Association used foreign investments for US$16.7 million as of 1 October 2010. The investments were directed to opening new enterprises and launching new products.

Among large projects of Uzbekcharmpoyabzali were launch of production of natural leather in Tashkent’s Kentavrus JV and Kasan’s Tradewell international LLC. Poyabzalchi LLC in Tashkent installed new equipment and started to produce sporting footwear.

Overall, 23 enterprises of the association were modernized in 2009-2010, including 10 footwear, 10 leather and three leather goods producing plants.

Within the Localization Programme, the enterprises of the Association launched production of 23 products and the growth rate made up 24.6%.

Currently, Uzbekcharmpoyabzali’s enterprises produce about 400 types of footwear and leather products, and it is increasing localization volume.

Eight enterprises started to produce footwear sole, trainers, jogging shoes, special footwear, PVC products, linoleum, etc. The production of leather products is increasing as well. Production of women bags were started in Ferghana. Within localization programme, the association started to produce sport products like tatami, wrestling mats, etc.

Uzbekcharmpoyabzali also pays attention to establishing intra-industry cooperation. Currently the association established 5 intra-industry cooperation realtions with ten enterprises and inked agreements on raw materials and goods supply. Total sum of agreement obligations made up 7 billion soums since the beginning of 2010. As of 1 October 2010, the association fulfilled agreements for 4.12 billion soums, or implemented forecast with 1% surplus.

Uzbekcharmpoyabzali said that it signed agreements for over 7 billion soums and export contracts for US$4.5 million in the first stage of International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange, which ended in July 2010.

The association is planning to expand cooperation with local and foreign companies and sign agreements for 10 billion soums and exports products for US$8 million within the second stage of the industrialists’ forum.

Currently, the Association unites 43 blank production points, 13 trade-blank production enterprises, 18 enterprises on leather processing, 20 footwear plants, 3 leather goods producing plants and one plant on artificial leather production.
