Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 March, at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held the meeting between First Deputy Minister of Finance Akhadbek Khaidarov and representatives of the American delegation led by  Acting Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Finance and Development, Jeffrey Okamoto.

The guests also included the US Charge d’Affaires ad interim in Uzbekistan Alan Melzer, specialists from the US Treasury Lina Bhatnagar, Lawrence Wright, Holly Miles and Jahongir Mavlani.

Jeffrey Okamoto gave a positive assessment of the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and noted the readiness of the American side to assist in their implementation.

At the meeting, they discussed the main difficulties on the path of modernization and the next steps in this direction, in particular, the main directions of structural reforms of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2019-2021 envisaged by the Road Map. The measures taken in the country to reform the tax system are were also discussed.

The guests expressed interest in discussing issues of public-private partnership. Progress in increasing the share of the private sector in the economy was discussed.

In conclusion, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation within the framework of international financial institutions and came to an agreement on further cooperation on the above issues.
