The number of applicants to enter Uzbekistan’s universities hit a record this year, the Regnum news agency reported on 7 August.
"The number of applicants hit a record this year: over 345,000 young people sat tests to enter the country’s higher educational establishments. The number shows a dynamic increase in the number of applicants wishing to study at the higher educational establishments. Thus, since 2004 the number of applicants has been increasing in average by 15% annually. Naturally, competition increases as well - in average six people compete for a seat this year," the report said.
It is expected that about 51,604 young people will receive opportunity to study at the Uzbek students in 2007/2008 academic year.
