After their 3-0 loss to Costa Rica, the Central Asians recorded the morale-boosting victory, thanks to a goal from Oybek Kilichev six minutes from time.
Uzbekistan coach Akhmad Ubaydullaev (pictured), however, was not reading much into the result of the friendlies saying the players needed to focus mainly on the FIFA event.
“Results of the friendly games are not so important for us because all our key matches are coming soon in the near future,” he said.
“Many of our injured players are making a return to the squad and our aim is to bring them into their top physical condition.”
Ubaydullaev has replaced injured Fozil Musaev with Almalyk midfielder Zohir Pirimov in the 21-member squad.
Uzbekistan will begin their campaign against Ghana on September 26 before taking on Uruguay three days later. Their last group game will be against England on October 2.
