Uzbek, Turkmen presidents ink joint communique

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Islam Karimov and his Turkmen counterpart Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed a joint communique at the Uzbek president’s Durmen residence.

The negotiations focused on energy cooperation and global financial crisis. The talks were held openly.

The meeting focused on transit cargo conveyance through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, as well.

The presidents said that amount of cargos was increased to 2.5 million tonnes in 2008.
