Uzbek President Islam Krimov supported the Turkmen president’s initiative aimed at achieving energy security, particularly a transnational pipeline infrastructure. "This move of Turkmenistan in the field of energy policy is a particularly responsible and constructive approach that fully agrees with the UN’s aims and tasks, and meets national and universal interests," the head of Uzbekistan said.

Having stressed that the energy resources were a strategic factor for stable developing of both states and increasing the wellbeing of their peoples, the sides confirmed their readiness for close interaction in this field based on the unanimity of views on the important currents of the global development.
