Uzbek telecom operators continue testing 5G networks in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek telecom operators based on Huawei solutions continue testing 5G networks in Uzbekistan. In particular, the pilot launch took place in the building of the congress hall and in one of the hotels of the tourist complex in Samarkand. A peak speed of 1209 Mbps was reached.

On the eve of preparations for the Summit of the Heads of States of the SCO Member States, the national communications operator UZTELECOM, based on Huawei equipment, launched fifth-generation networks in the tourist center of Samarkand. As part of the tests, a peak speed of 1209 Mbit / s was achieved, which makes it possible to ensure uninterrupted communication inside the premises, which are part of the complex of the new tourist center under construction in Samarkand. This event was another step towards strengthening the country’s ICT infrastructure, introducing innovative technologies to the IT industry and providing the best experience and services from telecom operators for various sectors of the economy.

Huawei presented a guaranteed indoor mobile coverage solution to the Minister for the Development of Communications and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the head of Uzkomnazorat to assure the timely preparation of infrastructure and the most advanced solutions for the upcoming SCO event in September this year, as well as for the ICT week ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN 2022.

“The introduction of fifth-generation network technologies allows Uzbekistan to bring the telecom sector to a new level. 5G innovations open up opportunities for the development of various sectors of the economy by improving the efficiency of industries, and enterprises, as well as increasing the attractiveness of various applications for the population of Uzbekistan. In 2016, during the previous SCO summit, 4G networks were launched in the country, which laid the foundation for the development of 5G today. The use of innovative Huawei equipment to build 5G networks today lays the foundation for a systematic upgrade to 5.5G and contributes to an early transition to green networks that take into account the reduction of carbon emissions and lower energy consumption,” said Chen Jiakai, Director of Huawei in Uzbekistan.

In 2019, during a visit to the Huawei Research and Development Center in Beijing, the President of Uzbekistan called for efforts to introduce innovative 5G solutions. For the first time, 5G networks were tested within ICTWEEK 2019 together with UZTELECOM and Ucell, with a maximum speed of more than 1802 Mbps, marking the beginning of a new round in the development and strengthening of ICT infrastructure in Uzbekistan. Over the past two years, the commercial deployment of 5G networks has been carried out jointly with UZTELECOM, Mobiuz and Ucell.

In 2021, the first pilot project on the use of 5G networks was presented in such an important sector of the economy for Uzbekistan as agriculture. A pilot project of "smart" agriculture using control systems, monitoring and data processing based on 5G technologies, the Internet of things, a drone, smart sensors and a platform for intelligent processing of big data was implemented jointly with the National Research University "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" » with the support of UZTELECOM.
