Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 15 May 2025, Uzbekistan will implement a new procedure for granting interest-free loans to students participating in international Work and Travel programs. This initiative was approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 290 on 2 May.

The loan will cover expenses related to travel to and from the host country, as well as other associated costs.

Eligible destinations include countries of the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

Up to 2,000 students per year will be able to benefit from this support. Each loan will be equivalent to 40 times the basic calculation value (BCV).

Applications can be submitted through Public Service Centers or online via the portal my.gov.uz. Required documents include:

an employment contract with a foreign employer;

a visa;

if available, a certificate of income from a guarantor for the past 12 months and a signed guarantee commitment.

The loan must be repaid by the student within one month of returning to Uzbekistan.

Once the annual quota is reached, applications will no longer be accepted. Applications submitted after the quota is filled will not be carried over and must be re-submitted the following year.

A loan in this context is an interest-free credit granted on the condition of mandatory repayment.
