Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Novouralsk (Sverdlovsk Region), at the children’s health camp "Samotsvety," the "International Smart Holidays with Rosatom School" took place, involving students aged 12 to 17. This year, 13 students from Uzbekistan participated. The "smart holidays" also included children from Belarus, India, Egypt, and Hungary.

The Rosatom School project, implemented since 2011, aims to support and develop natural science and mathematical education in schools. Participation in the program helps improve students' competitiveness for admission to universities specializing in energy and engineering fields. Over the course of the program, two dozen "smart holidays" have been held in Russia and abroad, with students from Russia and more than 25 foreign countries taking part.

This year’s "International Smart Holidays" focused on the theme "Adventure Library." Each day, children were introduced to a book by Russian literature authors, ranging from classics to contemporary writers, which guided the thematic content and activities for the day. The list of books included well-known works such as Alexander Pushkin’s "Eugene Onegin," Ivan Krylov’s "Fables," Anton Chekhov’s "The Lady with the Dog," and others.

The program also included an engineering-economic game from Rosatom School, five workshops—“Microelectronics,” “Russian Cuisine,” “Dance Language,” “Languages,” and “Smart Sports.” Various daily activities brought children together in temporary teams to solve creative and intellectual tasks.

“I spent the whole session with my roommate Alexey, and it turned out we are very similar. We are both 13 years old. We have big families: both of us have a four-year-old brother and a nine-year-old sister. We always had something to talk about. It was great to come to Russia and find a good friend,” shared his impressions Azizon from Uzbekistan.

In addition to the interactive intellectual and entertainment program, camp participants had the opportunity to learn more about the nature, culture, and history of the Urals. The students visited Lake Tavatu, traveled to Nevyansk, and got acquainted with traditional Russian crafts.

“International Smart Holidays with Rosatom School” is a project we have been implementing for almost ten years. It is important for us that within this project, we foster simple but very engaging communication between representatives of different countries, promoting international humanitarian cooperation. Through such interactions, our Russian children come to better understand and appreciate their own culture, presenting it through activities for foreign participants. Foreign participants begin to form their impressions of Russia and Russians based on their experiences with their Russian peers and our wonderful teachers. In this way, we aim to spark interest in Russian culture and the study of the Russian language,” commented Natalia Shurochkova, Advisor to the Department for Regional Cooperation and Project Leader of Rosatom School.
