The event was organized by British-Uzbek Society, Social Initiatives Support Fund, Tashkent Institute of Textile and Lights Industry at the support of Fund Forum.
The exhibition familiarizes the visitors with history, production technology and modern trends in use of silk, in particular, ikat, becoming popular in Europe.
Fund Forum said that the exhibition is logic continuation of cooperation in design and fashion between Uzbekistan and Great Britain with in the Art Week Style.uz, a project of Gulnara Karimov held in Tashkent annually.
The exhibition in London presents historic costumes from Uzbekistan, photos on production process and samples of ikats. The exhibition tells about legends and history of one of unique elements of Uzbek textile.
About 150 people, including designers, diplomats and business circles, representatives of British museum, politicians, and textile experts participated at the opening ceremony.
