Uzbek security service seizes two guns from Tajik native
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Officers of the National Security Service have uncovered a case of law-breaking, the consequences of which could threaten people’s security.

Peace and stability is the foundation of development and prosperity of every country and society. Any attempt on disturbing population’s peace is seen as a serious threat to the security of a country. Such attempts of certain criminal individuals and groups, which are sent from foreign countries, including from neighbouring Tajikistan, with the aim of stretching their deadly tentacles to Uzbekistan, are being nipped in the bud by our law enforcement agencies.

For example, on 13 December 2008, officers of the National Security Service have uncovered one of such cases, which surprises by its impudence and level of possible consequences and this means we should be more vigilant.

Officers of the National Security Service, in Surkhandarya region, have detained a native of Tajikistan, who was convicted before under the Article 273, Part 5 of the Uzbek Criminal Code. His name is not being announced in the interests of the investigation. It was established that he illegally lived in the region and kept guns with ammunition to them at the courtyard of the house, where he lived. The detained individual said that two assault rifles AK-74 with cartridges had been brought to our country from neighbouring Tajikistan.

An investigation into the case is under way.
