Uzbek scientists have invented a powerful solar laser.

"The invention of a powerful solar laser in Uzbekistan will open the way for the country to enter the club of states which have up-to-date space technologies, engineer-physicist Abduhakim Fazilov has told Interfax.

He is the author of the unique solar laser and the coordinator of the project entitled "Development of optimum technology of converting solar energy into laser light".

Abduhakim Fazilov said that the laser device was supplied with energy by the biggest solar energy concentrator in the world, which was built 45 km from Tashkent 1,000 m above sea level back at the end of the past century. Hear, on the focus of a huge solar mirror, temperature reaches 3,000 decrees centigrade and makes it possible to get super-pure and heat-resistant materials, to test damage threshold of components of new equipment and others. Uzbek scientists have been able to use the concentrator to supply energy to the powerful laser device.
