Uzbek, Russian officials discuss Russian leader’s upcoming visit to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Russia Ilhom Nematov handed over credentials to State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Georgiy Karasin on 24 December.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of the Russian-Uzbek relations, including upcoming state visit of Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev to Uzbekistan and cooperation of two states in international arena.

It is expected that Russian president to visit Uzbekistan in late January.

The sides underlined importance of further expansion of bilateral partnership relations, based on strategic partnership and allied relations.

Ilhom Nematov is former First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan. Mr Nematov was appointed as envoy to Russia on 5 December 2008.
