Uzbek regulatory authorities identified 2,600 cases of illegal connections to water supply and sewerage networks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As a result of the work done to ensure drinking water supply to the population this year, the level of drinking water supply to the population increased from 74.4 percent to 77.2 percent.

 In Andijan region, the level of drinking water supply to the population reached 91 percent, in Khorezm region - 90 percent, the press service of Uzsuvtaminot said.

In order to develop a payment culture among the population, prevent cases of illegal connections to the water supply and sewerage networks, and further improve service by competent organizations, large-scale work is being carried out.

As a result, cases of violation of the law by consumers are eliminated, and damages incurred are recovered in the appropriate manner.

This year, together with regulatory authorities, 2,600 cases of illegal connections to water supply and sewer networks have been identified.

The indicators in this direction are as follows:
Tashkent city - 572 cases
Jizzakh region - 393 cases
Samarkand region - 321 cases
Kashkadarya region - 288 cases.

According to preliminary calculations, the interests of society suffered damage in the amount of 51 billion soums.

It should be noted that in case of arbitrary connection to the water supply and sewerage networks, the current legislation provides for criminal liability, and appropriate measures are provided for violators in the prescribed manner.

At the same time, large-scale explanatory work is being carried out among consumers aimed at improving payment discipline. Modern and convenient means of payment have been created for consumers. In order to reduce debt, claims in the amount of 215 billion soums were brought to the court for civil and economic cases against 65.3 thousand debtors.

In addition, over the past period, 12.9 thousand individual and legal consumers were disconnected from the network due to existing debt. Of these, 8.2 thousand cases, that is, the highest figure occurs in the city of Tashkent.

As a result of the work done, compared to the beginning of this year, accounts receivable per capita decreased by 16.2 billion soums and amounted to 740.5 billion soums.

Urgent tasks and measures have been identified that need to be implemented in 2024 in order to continue this work in an accelerated manner and further improve the population’s needs for drinking water supply and sanitation.
