Tashkent Region’s police seized more than 130 kg of drugs, including 34 kg of heroin, during the first nine months of this year, the Uzbek newspaper Tashkentskaya Pravda reported on 24 October.
The report said: "For example, a large-scale operation against drug dealing was conducted in Chinoz in the summer. During the investigation operations, officers of the department [for combating drug trafficking] succeeded in detaining several residents of Surxondaryo Region [southern Uzbekistan] for attempting to sell 15 kg of heroin."
The report cited some other examples, including 4.38 kg of marijuana seized from a resident of the town of Bekobod.
