Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 May 2025, at the Cabinet of Ministers building, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, held a working meeting with Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Daren Tang expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for the priority attention given to the development of reliable legal protection for intellectual property objects in the country.

In turn, it was noted that WIPO actively supports the reforms underway in Uzbekistan aimed at developing and improving the intellectual property system, as well as strengthening the mechanisms of its legal protection.

During the meeting, the parties discussed joint plans for implementing the intellectual property development strategy in Uzbekistan for the period 2026–2030, enhancing the qualifications of specialized professionals, and creating and launching a joint master’s program with WIPO based on the Intellectual Property master’s degree at Tashkent State University of Law.

Additionally, there was a detailed exchange of views on actively involving Uzbekistan’s representatives in the WIPO Green program, which focuses on supporting the development of the green economy, combating climate change, and ensuring food security.

Special attention was also paid to the implementation of joint initiatives to protect intellectual property rights related to agricultural products produced in Uzbekistan.
