President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on 5 November at his Oksaroy residence in Tashkent received the Minister of Internal Affairs of the United Arabic Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Seyf bin Zaed Al Nahayan, UzA reported.

Welcoming the guest, the Uzbek President emphasized the sustainable development of relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UAE. "Although the diplomatic relations between our states were been established not long ago, the ties between our nations have centuries-old roots. The people of Uzbekistan esteem the Arabic world," he said.

The UAE are a reliable partner of Uzbekistan in the region of Persian Gulf and Arabic world. These days it turned 15 since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The UAE perceived with great satisfaction the announcement of Tashkent the capital of the Islamic culture by the ISESCO in 2007. A book entitled "Uzbekistan on the path of spiritual development" by the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in Arabic language has been published in the UAE. This is a vivid confirmation of political and spiritual closeness of the two countries, mutual respect and trust.

The visit of the UAE Interior Minister shows that Uzbekistan and the UAE are moving on the path of development of cooperation in the sphere of security. Both states are the adherents of partnership in deed of protection of society, and especially the young generation, against the influence of various hostile ideas and ideologies, the fight against destructive forces acting under the mask of religion.

During the meeting at Oksaroy Seyf bin Zaed Al Nahayan thanked the President Islam Karimov for sincere reception and noted that the UAE like in all other spheres supported the further enhancement of cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of security as well.

During the talks, the sides exchanged opinions on strengthening of relations among the law-enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan and the UAE, collaboration in the sphere of security and other issues of mutual interest.
