Uzbek President signs resolution on developing ties with Korea
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on realizing agreements, reached during the state visit of the President to the Republic of Korea, and further developing bilateral cooperation.

The document was adopted in order to ensure timely realization of bilateral inter-governmental and inter-departmental agreements on developing trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea, reached during the state visit of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov to the Republic of Korea on 10-12 February 2010.

The resolution approved Action Plan on realization of signed agreements, reached during the visit, and the list of investment projects, which are realized with the participation of the Korean corporations and companies. These documents were not disclosed.

Heads of ministries and departments, business entities were entrusted to ensure timely and quality execution of action plan and present quarterly reports on its implementation to the Government of Uzbekistan, the document said.

Ministries and departments, business entities, which are responsible to implementation of investment projects, will develop scheme on project execution within two-weeks and present them to Cabinet of Ministers for approval.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Ministry of Economy will establish control over implementation of signed agreements and develop and realize measures, stipulated in the Action Plan.

During the visit of the Uzbek President to South Korea, the sides signed a total of 16 documents, covering cooperation in areas like infrastructure, medicine, environmental protection, tourism, agriculture, and others. In particular, the sides inked agreement on cooperation in development of alternative energy sources and power saving technologies and the Investment agreement on the project of construction of Ustyurt gas and chemical complex at Surgil deposit (north Uzbekistan).
