Uzbek President signs decree on further development of handicraft
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On measures on further development of handicrafts and supporting artisans” on 17 November.

The decree defines the main directions of development of national craftsmanship, providing full support to the artisans, assisting in the allocation of lands and premises, connecting to the utility networks, the provision of soft loans, sales of handicrafts, especially for export, and establishment of the centers for development of crafts in the districts and cities of the Republic.

The document includes measures on developing activities of Hunarmand Association, which unites artisans of Uzbekistan.

President of Uzbekistan also provided various tax benefits to artisans. The government will also allocate funds to train young artisans and launch new majors at the universities.

The document also envisages measures on allocation of US$50 million to development of handicraft in Uzbekistan. The resources will be issued via banks. Another 50 billion soums will be issued to develop handicraft, family business and out-work at interest rate of 2% APR.
