Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law, envisaging a 50% discount for timely payment of fines.

The new procedure applies not only to fines for traffic violations, but also fines for administrative offenses imposed by the court.

According to the amendment made to Article 332-1, if the offender voluntarily pays 50% of the amount of the fine within 15 days or 70% of the amount of the fine within 30 days from the date of delivery of the decision to impose a fine to him, he is exempt from paying the remaining amount of the fine.

However, this procedure does not apply in the following cases:

- when committing violations provided for in articles:

• 131 (Driving while intoxicated);

• 132 (Management of small boats by boatmasters in a state of intoxication);

• 136 (Evasion of vehicle drivers and other road users from passing an examination for intoxication);

• 140 (Admission to driving vehicles of drivers who are in a state of intoxication, or persons who do not have the right to drive vehicles) of the CoAO RUz.

- when appealing or protesting against a decision to impose a fine;

- in case of repeated commission of the same violation within 1 year after the application of an administrative penalty.

The law comes into effect on 1 May 2023.
