Uzbek President underlined that Ferghana region is achieving great results in industry, construction, agriculture, development of small business and private entrepreneurship, construction of new houses in rural areas, employment of population and in social sector.

It is worth to mention that it is expected that Ferghana region’s GDP will grow by 6.7%, agriculture – 7.5%, services – 17.2%, construction works – 12%, Uzbek president said. Gross regional product rose 1.7 times compared to 2000.

Speaking at the meeting, Islam Karimov also briefed participants on issues, which should be carried out in the region and tasks, which should be solved.

At the session, the council considered an organizational issue. Islam Karimov proposed to appoint Shukhrat Ganiev as governor of Ferghana region, who was working as acting governor of Ferghana region.

President Islam Karimov also familiarized with construction works in Ferghana city, which are conducted in line with the town building plant.

Uzbek head said that construction works should take into account climate conditions of Ferghana region. He said that landscape design should be used in construction works.

Later, Uzbek President visited football stadium and Art Palace, which are currently constructed in Ferghana city.
