The official welcoming ceremony of the President of Uzbekistan was held at the Palace of the Sultan of Oman.

The honorary guard was formed in the honor of the high guest. The state anthems of the two states were played, UzA reported.

The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said passed the honorary guard.

At the meeting that followed the welcoming ceremony the leaders of Uzbekistan and Oman considered issues of development of bilateral relations and expansion of economic cooperation, as well as regional and international problems.

Islam Karimov said Uzbekistan highly valued the developing relations with Oman. He stressed that the meeting was a good opportunity to discuss issues that represent mutual interest.

Qaboos bin Said noted that the state visit of the head of Uzbekistan to Oman was a historic event and it signified a new stage in bilateral relations.

The sides expressed confidence that the reached agreements would serve to further development of cooperation between the two states.
