State flags of the two countries were raised high and the guard of honor lined up at Ashgabat’s international airport. Young men and women in colorful national costumes brought the traditional bread, salt and flowers for the President of Uzbekistan.
The streets in Ashgabat are decorated with flags and banners with cordial welcoming greetings in Uzbek and Turkmen, UzA reported.
The current visit is considered in both countries as a logical extension of regular meetings at the highest level, dedicated to consolidating the Uzbek-Turkmen interstate ties.
The summit of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is expected to serve as a venue for detailed discussion of the current state and prospects of the multifaceted bilateral cooperation, exchange views on pressing regional issues and key topics in contemporary international affairs.
As reported earlier, the heads of state are anticipated to adopt a joint declaration following the negotiations. The two sides are to sign also a range of documents envisaging further enhancement of interaction in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian areas.
