Uzbek President instructs to develop master plans for settlements

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to develop master plans for settlements and introduce a system for identifying and regulating illegal buildings.

It was noted that last year about 4 thousand illegal buildings were discovered in Uzbekistan. Also, over the past two years, more than 7 thousand unauthorized buildings have arisen in areas adjacent to multi-storey buildings, of which in 5 thousand cases public spaces have been affected.

In the regions, especially in Tashkent, cases of installing “blockers” to create illegal individual parking spaces around high-rise buildings have become more frequent

The head of state ordered the introduction of a completely new regulatory system for unauthorized and illegal buildings. The identification of such objects will be carried out by a republican commission under the leadership of the Ministry of Construction, the Cadastre Agency and Uzbek Cosmos.

The commission will analyze aerial and satellite images of the territories, identifying inconsistencies with previous data and compiling a list of illegal buildings.

In addition, this year the Ministry of Construction, together with regional khokims, should develop master plans for 170 cities and towns, and next year - at least 300.

Each plan will be discussed with the population, and its implementation will be subject to public control.

For these purposes, the “My Territory” platform will be introduced, where public opinion will be analyzed and voting will be held when creating urban planning documents.
