Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinichi Kitaoka at Akasaka residence, in Tokyo.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude for the long-standing cooperation of JICA, aimed at supporting reforms and promoting priority programs in Uzbekistan.
Currently, the portfolio of joint projects amounts to over US$4 billion. A new long-term Cooperation Program worth more than US$3.5 billion was agreed, including projects in energy, modernization of industry and agriculture, infrastructure, environment, healthcare and other sectors.
Particular attention has been paid to supporting small and medium-sized business projects, as well as expanding educational exchanges.
An agreement was reached on development of a roadmap to ensure timely and qualitative implementation of each cooperation project between Uzbekistan and JICA.
