Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 August, Behzod Yuldashev, President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, academician, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, passed away.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the late academician’s home today, where verses from the Quran were recited and prayers were offered. The President praised Behzod Yuldashev’s contributions to the nation and his good deeds.
Born on 9 May 1945, in Tashkent, Behzod Yuldashev began his career as a research intern at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences in 1968. He gained wide international recognition in the field of high-energy physics and demonstrated high scientific and organizational potential as Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics and President of the Academy of Sciences. Yuldashev made significant contributions to the training of highly qualified scientific personnel, the development of cooperation with foreign scientific centers, and the application of scientific results in various sectors of the economy. He worked with the International Atomic Energy Agency and universities and led many major projects.
As a member of the Oliy Majlis and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Behzod Yuldashev was active in the development and adoption of legislation.
His contributions to the advancement of domestic science were highly recognized by the state. He was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” the orders of “Fidokorona Hizmatlari Uchun” and “Mehnat Shuhreti,” the Beruni State Prize, and the title of “Honored Scientist of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.”
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his condolences to the late academician’s wife and children, who expressed their gratitude for his support and visit.
