Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 2 September, at the Paralympic Games in Paris, Uzbek athlete Bobur Omonov won a gold medal in shot put.

On 3 September, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the champion.

The President warmly congratulated Bobur Omonov on being named a two-time Paralympic champion and for breaking his own record set at the 2021 Paralympics.

President Mirziyoyev noted that this achievement is a significant event in the history of Uzbekistan’s Paralympic movement. He also expressed gratitude to the athlete’s coaches and family, whose support played a crucial role in reaffirming his high level of skill.

Champion Bobur Omonov expressed his joy at having fulfilled the nation’s expectations. He emphasized that the success of Uzbekistan’s team, including his own achievements, was made possible by the special attention given to sports and the creation of favorable conditions under the President’s guidance.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also congratulated other athletes who won medals in the preceding days and wished success to compatriots who continue to compete in the games.
