Uzbek President congratulates his Russian counterpart
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov sent a message to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev congratulating him on the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“Dear Dmitry Anatolievich, please accept my sincere greetings on the twentieth anniversary of diplomatic relations established between Uzbekistan and Russia,” the message reads.

“Today we consider Russia our priority and longer-term partner in the region and the international arena, a nation that has lately made remarkable accomplishments in its modernization policy and reforms covering all aspects of life of state and society, reinforcement of its role and leading positions in world politics,” Uzbek leader stated.

“The past two decades rich in events significant for our two peoples have earnestly proved an important historical period in terms of shaping and advancing multilayered ties covering all areas of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The accumulated enormous experience and the potential for close interaction have facilitated steady achievement of high-level alliance relations and strategic partnership,” the Uzbek head added.

“I feel convinced that the time-tested traditions of our fruitful cooperation, commitment of both countries to principles of mutual respect, confidence and due regard for the interests of one another will serve as a reliable backbone for further enhancement of Uzbek-Russian bonds,” Islam Karimov underlined.

“I take this opportunity to wish a sound health and every success to You, esteemed Dmitry Anatolievich, along with wellbeing and prosperity to the friendly people of Russia,” he concluded.
