Uzbek President approves agreement on Central Asia-Persian Gulf transport corridor
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov approved agreement on creation of new international transport corridor, which will link countries of Central Asia with ports at Persian Gulf.

The agreement on creation of new international transport corridor among Governments of Iran, Oman, Qatar, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was signed in Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan, on 25 April 2011.

President of Uzbekistan entrusted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan to direct corresponding notification to depository about implementation of inter-state procedures, necessary for entering into force of the agreement.

As reported earlier, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov proposed to create transport corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar and other states of Persian Gulf in Ashgabat on 19 October 2010.
