Uzbek population’s deposits reach 3.277 trln. soums

As of 1 January 2012, the volume of deposits of physical persons - residents in commercial banks of Uzbekistan on local and foreign currency accounts made up 3.277 trillion soums and grew 30.1% year-on-year (758.9 billion soums).
The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said as of 1 January 2012, the savings of physical persons on foreign currency accounts in soum equivalent amounted to 567.3 billion soums (17.3% to the total volume of deposits) and increased by 33%.
People’s Bank. Agrobank and National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan (NBU) were top three banks on the volume of deposits of population. Share of these three banks made up 50.9% in total deposits (1.668 trillion soums).
The committee said that share of Asaka Bank and Uzpromstroybank made up 8.1% and 6.6% respectively in the reporting period.
The State Statistics Committee said that population of Uzbekistan preferred to deposit hard currencies at the deposits of Kapitalbank (22.1% or US$125.5 million), NBU (20.2% or US$114.8 million) and Asaka Bank (16.1% or US$91.5 million).
