Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A proposal has been made in Uzbekistan to revoke driver’s licenses for speeding, either for a specific period or permanently.
This initiative was put forward by Robakhon Mahmudova, the chairwoman of the political council of Uzbekistan’s Social Democratic Party "Adolat."
According to her, increasing fines is not an effective method to reduce the number of violations and accidents. Mahmudova emphasized that a driver with substantial financial resources can pay the fine and continue to violate the rules, potentially causing the deaths of innocent people.
In light of this, she believes it is necessary to introduce stricter measures for traffic violators.
She proposed restricting the right to drive for a certain period or permanently revoking licenses for speeding violations.
Additionally, she highlighted the need to toughen criminal penalties for drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol and for those whose violations result in fatalities.
