Economy 24/11/2008 Uzbek-Polish Business Forum discusses promotion of economic relations
Business Forum of business circles of Uzbekistan and Poland was held in Warsaw, Poland, on 17 November
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Business Forum of business circles of Uzbekistan and Poland was held in Warsaw, Poland, on 17 November. It was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Economy of Poland and Uzinfoinvest Information Support and Foreign Investments Promotion Agency and it was held within the framework of Uzbek-Polish Intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

Representatives of more than 80 Polish firms and companies took part in the work of business forum, Uzinfoinvest said on 21 November.

Within the event, the Uzbek side presented investment climate and opportunities in Uzbekistan for foreign investors. The Uzbek side also proposed some projects for joint implementation in various fields.

Grazhina Khenclevska, Deputy Minister of Economy of Poland, noted increasing interest of Polish businesses to establish mutually beneficial and long-term relations with their Uzbek colleagues and, that bilateral meetings within the framework of business forum will serve basis for the conclusion of specific agreements and intentions on a mutually beneficial cooperation in spheres of mutual interest.

Thereupon, the sides confirmed mutual interest in deepening of investment cooperation in the field of industry, particularly in implementation of projects in:

  • Chemical industry (processing of cotton cellulose, production of cleansers);
  • Pharmaceutics (production of antidiabetic, immunobiological, antimicrobial preparations);

  • Agricultural engineering;

  • Food and fruit and vegetables processing (creation of joint ventures on the production of food products, including canned goods, concentrates, jams and juices and other on the base of local raw material);
  • Agriculture (animal breeding, raising potatoes, selection of seed);
  • Electrical engineering industry (joint implementation of projects on organization of production of new electrical engineering wares, energy-saving electric bulbs, photo-electric elements, and also
  • Production of building materials (cement, sanitary ware ceramic items, ceramic slabs, glass products and etc.);
  • Tourism - implementation of joint projects for building new and reconstructed tourist hotel complexes, tourist zones in Uzbekistan, exchange of experience on establishment of joint tourist agencies, preparation of cadres for management and tourist services, participation of Polish and Uzbek companies in tourist exhibitions and fairs.
Also, the sides underlined possibility of establishment joint ventures to introduce innovation technologies to the real sector of economy, as well as engineering companies and project firms as one of the perspective direction of cooperation.

In the framework of business forum, there was constructive dialog and the sides studied investment proposals on establishment of investment cooperation between Polish and Uzbek companies.

As a result of presentations and bilateral talks with the leaders of foremost Polish companies, the sides signed eight memorandums and protocols of understanding for delivery of carbamide, acetate sutures, establishment of joint ventures on production of bit chemicals and detergents, vaccines and serums, electric oven and gas-stove, domestic appliances, agricultural machines and equipments.
