Uzbek police suppress human trafficking channel to Malaysia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek police have suppressed a human trafficking channel to Malaysia, the Na Postu newspaper said on 30 May.

The newspaper said that the channel was suppressed due to a mistake made by a member of a criminal group involved in human trafficking as he told women being sent to Malaysia that they would have to "provide sexual services" there. The women, who thought they were going to work as dancers at Malaysian restaurants, "categorically refused to fly and reported the incident to law-enforcement agencies".

The newspaper said that a former prostitute had organized the channel for trafficking girls from Uzbekistan to Malaysia in order to use them as prostitutes at a night club.

It also said that from January 2008 to March 2009, 18 women were recruited.
