Uzbek prime minister has said that it is Iran’s legal right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and the Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved diplomatically, Iranian radio from Mashhad reported on 3 November.
Reporting on a meeting between Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Iranian First Vice-President Parviz Davudi, which was held as part of the latter’s visit to Uzbekistan to attend the sixth meeting of prime ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, the radio said: "Referring to the Iranian nuclear programme, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that it was the Iranian nation’s legal right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and the issue of Iran’s nuclear activities should be resolved through diplomatic means."
During his visit to the Uzbek capital, Iran’s Parviz Davudi also held talks with Erkin Khalilov, Speaker of the Uzbek parliament’s lower house, the report added. It also expanded on the meetings held between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari and Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov and other officials from the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
The talks held as part of the SCO meeting were "friendly and constructive", the report concluded.
