Uzbek parliamentary delegation visits Japan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan visited Japan on 22-26 February, the Senate’s pres service said on 1 March 2010. Senators Altiev and Aimbetov entered to the delegation.

On 23 February 2010, Museum of Japan Parliament hosted a presentation of Uzbekistan, which was aimed at familiarizing Japanese officials with development of parliamentarism, democratic, political and economic reforms, investment climate and the book of the Uzbek President “Global financial-economic crisis, ways and measures on its overcoming in Uzbekistan”.

Representatives of both chambers of the parliament and government of Japan, as well as prominent political figures participated at the event. The sides underlined developing bilateral relations and positively evaluated inter-parliament league between Uzbekistan and Japan.

On 24 February, the delegation was received by Japan Senate’s Speaker Satsuki Eda and vice-speaker Akiko Santo. Eda said Uzbekistan is leader among Central Asia and underlined gradual development of cooperation between two states, including parliamentarism.

On the same day, the delegation met vice-speaker of the Representatives House Seishiro Eto, who supported idea of creation inter-parliamentary league between Uzbekistan and Japan.

Later, Kyoko Nakayama, secretary-general of Liberal-Democratic Party Japan-Uzbekistan parliamentary league, said to speed up practical implementation of the inter-parliamentary league.

Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan hosted a meeting of the delegation with representatives of international departments of two chambers of Japanese parliament, ministry of finance and economy, business circles, NGOs and mass media of Japan.

On 25 February, secretary-general of Democratic Party Japan-Uzbekistan parliamentary league, chairman of committee on budget and financial policy of Representatives House Koichiro Gemba and deputy foreign minister Chinami Nishimura.
