Uzbek parliament discusses development of cattle breeding
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on agriculture and water management issues held an expanded session to discuss implementation of the law of Uzbekistan “On livestock breeding” by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management.

It was noted that Uzbekistan successfully develops system on developing livestock breeding. Currently, there are 9.642 million heads of cattle in Uzbekistan, including 3.878 million heads of cow.

It was underlined that Uzbekistan has 20 pedigree enterprises and veterinary services. Uzbekistan purchased 23,244 heads of cattle from Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, the USA and Israel in last five years.

In this period, some 36,000 calves were produced and each of them gives 20 liters of milk. In last three years, Uzbekistan bought 65 heads of bulls and 444,300 doses of sperm to improve gene pool. There are also enterprises, which produce breeding products. Some 414 breed enterprises have 99,460 cattle, including 35,335 cows.

During the session, the sides discussed legislative regulation of livestock breeding, rights and obligations of the enterprises in the sector.

At the end of the session, the committee adopted recommendations directed at further improving livestock breeding.
