Uzbek paper warns of human trafficking
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Two young men and a 19-year-old girl have fallen victims to human trafficking in Uzbekistan, the Narodnoe Slovo newspaper reported on 10 February.

A resident of central Samarqand Region, Ravshan S., believed one of his guests, who had told him about an opportunity to earn easy money in Russia and travelled there with him. However, "as soon as Ravshan arrived at a destination, his documents were taken away and he was sold to strangers". There, he was forced into working 18-20 hours a day, ate only bread and was "insulted by so-called security guards everyday", the report said.

The report went on to say that after spending two years in Russia, Ravshan returned home sick.

The report also spoke about a 19-year-old girl, who was deceived by her "best friend" and sent to work at a night club in the United Arab Emirates (presumably as a prostitute). Working 24 hours a day and being insulted everyday there, she felt disgraced and hanged herself, the report added.

The third story was about a 22-year-old young man, who was sold to a local criminal group in Kazakhstan by his fellow villager.
