Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 November 2024, the Ministry of Economy and Finance hosted a meeting with representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to discuss the development of an ecological program for industrial parks in Uzbekistan.
The meeting was attended by international consultant Jean-Paul Gautier, UNIDO representatives, and members of the Ministry’s Green Economy Development and Industrial Policy Implementation Departments.
The discussion focused on the ongoing work under the project “Technical Assistance for Transforming Industrial Zones of the Republic of Uzbekistan into Eco-Industrial Parks,” as part of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme.
Additionally, in collaboration with GIZ and UNIDO, the parties explored potential cooperation in developing a regulatory framework for the establishment and growth of eco-industrial parks in Uzbekistan. These parks would incorporate principles of green economy, clean energy, and circular economy.
Eco-industrial parks are expected to facilitate the adoption of green growth principles, enhance economic, social, and environmental responsibility, and promote the production of eco-friendly goods at industrial facilities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand their collaboration in this area.
