Uzbek newspaper cites human trafficking cases
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A report published by the Uzbek newspaper Narodnoye Slovo on 26 March 2009 cited a number of human trafficking cases in Uzbekistan.

Touching upon one of them, the report said that residents of eastern Andijon Region’ Izboskan District, Umidjon Madumarov, Bohodir Ernazarov, Bahromjon Norqulov and Begijon Norqulov, fell victim to human trafficking as they believed Tursunpolat Kholmatov who promised them a job for "at least US$400 a month" in Kazakhstan.

It said that the victims went through hardships in the neighbouring country and "the men reported about the incident to respective bodies, after they managed to come back to Uzbekistan", the report concluded the story.

Citing a separate human trafficking case in eastern Andijon Region, the report said that a resident of Buloqboshi District, who was a mother of five children, Mavjuda Pirmatova, and a resident of central Jizzakh Region, Mavluda Mominova, promised six people a "great job" in Kazakhstan. However, the women "sold Ahmedov, Alchiyev, Siddiqov and their three friends for US$1,700" to their accomplices in Kazakhstan.

After facing a lot of difficulties and not receiving money for work they did, the men returned back to their home country, the report concluded.
