Uzbek MPs suggest to develop law “On industrial policy”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Committee on industry, construction and trade of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan proposed to develop a draft law “On industrial policy”.

The draft law will be developed for timely implementation of the programme on priorities of industrial development of Uzbekistan in 2011-2015, further diversification of structure of economy, its sustainable and dynamic development, expanding export potential and solving main social tasks of the government.

The draft law will be directed at expanding several tasks, including regulating the state system of industrial development, determine authorities of the bodies, develop requirements to industrial development prgrammes.

MPs underlined that the law would create foundation of interaction of the state and businesses in formation of industrial policy, as well as solve problems on further industrial development.

The programme on priorities of industrial development of Uzbekistan in 2011-2015 was approved by the presidential resolution and it is directed at further developing industry, deepening structural reforms of economy, diversifying its industries and increasing export potential, and increasing efficiency and competitiveness of industries and enterprises of Uzbekistan.

The programme includes targeted indicated of industrial development of Uzbekistan and 519 investment projects with total cost of US$47.5 billion.

Implementation of projects will allow to increase industrial output by at least 60% in five years and increase its share in Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product from 24% in 2010 to 28% in 2015.

Such industries as machinery and automobile, chemistry, food and pharmaceuticals will develop with twofold growth rate. AT the same time, the share of processing industries in structure of industry will grow from 41% in 2010 to 49% in 2015 due to implementation of 80 investment projects.

Founded in 2008, Navoi free industrial and economic zone will also serve as powerful stimulus for development of inter-state economic relations and economic growth of Uzbekistan.

Within the programme, it is planned to implement 33 investment projects at Navoi free industrial and economic zone and launch production of components for automobile industry, modern heating equipment, chemical and petrochemical products, home appliances and others.
