Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed it on 12 August and Senate approved it on 4 December.

The agreement was inked on 25 February 2009 in Tashkent city within the official visit of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov to Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek parliament said the agreement envisages foundations and conditions of transfer of convicted to the territory of their home state for further service of their sentence.

The agreement includes list of documents, required to application, conditions and procedures of transfer, reasons for refusal and other norms.

The Uzbek parliament said the ratification of the agreement will allow convicted people to service their sentence in their home country, which will help for more effective treatment.
