Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 March, President of UzbekistanShavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Bakhodir Jalolov Boxing School in Tashkent.
Champion of the Olympic and Asian Games, two-time world champion, and three-time Asian champion Bakhodir Jalolov can be called, without exaggeration, the strongest athlete of Uzbekistan. In recent years, he has also been successfully performing in professional boxing.
Special attention in Uzbekistan is paid to promoting the activities of such champions and using their experience to educate young athletes. According to the resolution of the Head of state of March 14, 2022, another base was created for this – the Bakhodir Jalolov Boxing School.
International-level boxers will be trained here with the involvement of highly qualified coaches and specialists. Educational and training sessions at the school will be conducted in accordance with international standards and constantly improved based on best practices.
The four-story modern building has all the conditions for this. The main gym, swimming pool, medical office, and dining room are on the ground floor. On the second floor are classes in psychology, foreign languages, theoretical studies, computer science, teachers’ offices, and a 45-bed hotel. A 235-bed dormitory and a spirituality room are on the third and fourth floors. There is also underground parking.
The Boxing School is designed for 175 places. 25 students are selected annually for grades 5-11. The first admission took place in 2022, and today, 50 talented students are studying here. They were chosen from all over the country.
The school is next to secondary school No. 259 of Yunusabad district, where young boxers will study general education subjects.
Students from Bakhodir Jalolov’s school won 26 gold, 18 silver, and 15 bronze medals at international and national competitions in 2023. Participation in several tournaments is also planned this year.
The school will serve as a training base for young boxers nationwide. It will cooperate with other sports schools and centers to select and educate young, promising boxers.
Here, the Head of state met with young athletes and industry leaders. Regions joined the meeting via video link.
“We declared this year the Year of Support for Youth and Business. We constantly pay special attention to this issue and create the conditions for young people. They have great potential and aspirations. And it’s not without reason that we are one of the world leaders in boxing. The goal of creating this school is to develop the potential of our talented young people. Now, the school of Bakhodir Jalolov, like the Presidential schools, will serve as a model in its direction. Methodology, nutrition, medicine, and boxing psychology will also be developed in regional sports schools”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Regional leaders were instructed to strengthen cooperation with sports federations and assist them in their work at places. The need to further popularize sports among young people, mainly to attract them to boxing, and to expand conditions in schools and sections was emphasized.
