Uzbek President Islam Karimov believes that the potential in relations between his country and Kazakhstan is not being used in full.

"The level of relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan does not correspond to the sides’ potential," Karimov said today at a meeting with Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov.

"During the meeting, the sides discussed the state of and prospects for further mutually beneficial cooperation and also talked about joint projects, which are expected to be implemented in future," Interfax was told at the Uzbek president’s press service.

According to preliminary data, in January-June the trade stood at US$583.4 million, which is more by 93.2% compared with the same period of the previous years, the presidential press service said.
