Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the working visit to Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the implementation of joint projects and programs related to climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The support provided by the Fund to enhance the capacity of relevant organizations in Uzbekistan and to develop national adaptation plans was highly praised.
Currently, the portfolio of joint projects amounts to $160 million, covering priority areas such as water resource management, development of green energy, green finance, and others. Additionally, two regional projects worth $5 billion and three national projects worth $500 million are under development.
An agreement was reached to further expand the partnership, including through the implementation of programs focused on innovative greening, sustainable land management, and improving the socio-ecological situation in the Aral Sea region.
