Uzbek, Korean officials discuss issues on upcoming visit of Korean leader
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Korea to Uzbekistan Jun Daewan held negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 20 August 2011.

The Uzbek ministry said that the sides considered issues on upcoming state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myung-bak to Uzbekistan.

As earlier reported, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myung-bak will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan on 23-24 August 2011 on invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

During the visit, it is planned to discuss issues of expanding and strengthening the Uzbek-Korean cooperation, actual problems of regional and international character of mutual interest.

In the result of the negotiations, it is planned to sign several bilateral agreements, directed at deepening interaction between two states in various areas.

According to the State Statistics Committee, bilateral trade turnover in the first half of 2011 made up US$780 million, which grew by 36.58% year-on-year.

Exports of Uzbekistan rose from US$69.1 million in January-June 2010 to US$81 million in the first half of 2011, while imports jumped from US$502 million to US$699 million.
